STEP 01 — PACKAGING INTEGRITY
Tamper-evident box check
Ensure your outer film is completely intact and factory sealed. Genuine Ledger devices do not ship with pre-printed recovery phrase sheets or physical tamper stickers; cryptographic attestation verifies authenticity upon power-on.
STEP 02 — INBOX VERIFICATION
Blank recovery sheets & cable
Confirm all recovery sheets included in the envelope are completely blank. Connect the enclosed USB-C cable to your computer or power source and verify the device screen displays 'Welcome to Ledger' before proceeding.

Secure Device Configuration & Key Generation

Dual-Button Navigation
Connect the hardware unit using the provided USB cable. Toggle through welcome prompts by pressing the left or right physical buttons, and press both buttons simultaneously to confirm selections.

Set Secure PIN Code
Choose a unique 4 to 8-digit PIN code. Never select obvious sequences. Re-enter each digit individually on-device to confirm your master lockout protection code.

Record 24-Word Phrase
Carefully write down all 24 secret recovery words in exact sequential order onto the physical recovery sheets provided in your kit. Never photograph or store words digitally.

Verify & Finalize
Complete the on-device verification quiz by selecting the corresponding word for each slot index. Once verified, store your recovery sheet in a secure, fireproof location.

Phase 01 / Authenticity
Ledger Genuine Check
Connect to Ledger Live to cryptographically verify the Secure Element chip. This attestation guarantees the device is completely untampered and authentic.
Phase 02 / Ecosystem
Install Dedicated Asset Apps
Open the Manager tab to install individual cryptographic apps (BTC, ETH, SOL). Each app functions in strict memory isolation within the BOLOS operating system.
Phase 03 / Validation
Zero-Risk Test Transaction
Execute a minimal test deposit, verify the address letter-by-letter on the hardware screen, and confirm arrival on Ledger Live before transferring primary holdings.
